Diagnostic Radiology (general x-rays) has a wide variety of uses. Most commonly, they are used to image the chest, abdomen, skull, breasts, urinary tract, gastrointestinal system (flouroscopy), and to diagnose broken bones in the extremities. Doctors use x-ray images to help diagnose injury or illness and to monitor conditions such as osteoarthritis and pneumonia. Surgeons scrutinize x-ray films to guide them during operations. Cardiologists use them to find and treat blockages in the coronary arteries.
